Elyse-after-ink.
Following these aftercare steps will help ensure proper healing and long-lasting results.
1. Bandage Removal
Keep the bandage on for 1–2 days after your appointment.
3 days is the longest you should leave it on.
Do not re-bandage the tattoo once removed.
2. First Wash
After removing the bandage, gently wash your tattoo with warm water and antibacterial soap.
Use clean hands — do not use a washcloth or loofah.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel; do not rub.
3. Moisturizing
Once fully dry, apply a thin layer of cocoa butter to hydrate the tattoo.
Do not slather or over-moisturize — a light layer is enough. Too much moisture can trap bacteria and delay healing.
4. Daily Care
Wash gently with antibacterial soap and reapply a thin layer of cocoa butter 2–3 times a day.
Avoid scratching, picking, or peeling scabs/flakes.
5. What to Avoid
No soaking in pools, hot tubs, baths, or ocean water for at least 2–3 weeks.
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds.
Do not use scented lotions, alcohol-based products, Vaseline, or petroleum gel.
